We had a wonderful turn out for our 8th grade Gifted and Talented Lunch today! The 8th grade students put their engineering skills to the test to design and create bridges out of straws and tape. The goal is to build a sturdy bridge that will support a cup full of pennies! We were unable to finish our designs today, so we will have another gifted lunch next Wednesday, October 21st. We can't wait to see which team has build the sturdiest bridge!
Students in Mr. Wnukowski's class are examining the grade level theme of Order vs. Chaos. To start off the activity, students watched a video clip of the movie Six Degrees of Separation where they observed the painting by Wassily Kandinsky that exhibits both control (order) and chaos. Students examined the paintings to determine what characteristics are associated with order and which are associated with chaos. These characteristics lead to a discussion that order and chaos can occur in all parts of our life- education, home, sports, etc. Students then debated how there is order and chaos in the government and how our government brings order to chaos.
