It's hard to believe that this is my 22nd year in education. I'm excited for my sixth year as a GRT at Kempsville Middle School! Gifted education is extremely important to me; I taught 6th grade Advanced Life Science at Kemps Landing/ Old Donation School from 2012-2015. Before that, I taught Advanced and Core Life Science, Physical Science and English at Bayside Middle School for 13 years (not all at the same time). After graduating high school, I attended Old Dominion University where I earned a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies as well as a M.S in Education. I obtained my Gifted Education endorsement from University of Virginia.
I have lived in Virginia Beach almost all of my life. I realized I had a passion for teaching when I began teaching swimming lessons to children at Bow Creek Rec Center while in college. Teaching runs in the family; my brother is a Math teacher at Cape Henry Collegiate.
I live in Virginia Beach with my husband, Max and our spoiled rotten Staffordshire Terrier, Betty! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and being outside. I love to exercise, run, read, and play with my dog.
