Students in Mrs. Garcia's Advanced English class have been learning about figurative language. We took their learning one step further today and worked on creating memes for 4 different types of figurative language. Students walked around the school and took photos that would be useful for their memes! Although it was a tough assignment, students seemed to get the hang of it and were very creative!

Students in Mr. Pernites' class learned how materials are transported throughout the cell by various processes including active transport, osmosis, and diffusion. In order to further show they understand these processes, students used a white board, string, and beans to create a stop motion video of their "cell" going through the phases! It was not only a great enrichment activity, but an excellent way to utilize technology in the classroom!
Students in Mr. Pernites' Life Science classes helped solve a medical mystery! They helped the medical examiner's office with research to determine the cause of death of a 28 year old lady. Through research, hypothesizing, and forming conclusions, the students were able to diagnose the lady and provide information on how this lady could have been treated. What an exciting way to learn about osmosis and diffusion in our cells!
