Students in Ms. Claffy's English classes were able to learn from our mistakes today. Students had to observe a piece of paper with a challenging fold, and were tasked with trying to recreate it. While students were trying to recreate it, we listened to terms students were saying while they did it. I was excited to hear many students encourage one another, and cheer each other on. Once the challenge was over, students discussed their mindsets and how they think. We discussed how we can grow from our mistakes and learned about many items we use every day that were invented "by mistake"- the chocolate chip cookie, potato chips, microwaves, penicillin and the pacemaker were all created by mistake! Sometimes mistakes are worth making! We concluded the lesson with a quick discussion on growth vs fixed mindsets and ended with the iceberg analogy and goal writing.

Our first 7th grade lunch of the year was fantastic! It was so great to see the students again! They certainly picked up where they left off last year! Many played Jenga and Apples to Apples! I always enjoy seeing our students during lunches! I can't wait until our next one!
