Ms. Houchins' 6th graders explored one step equations in an exciting way today! Students were pre-assessed, then placed in groups according to their readiness. Some students were lucky enough to have a one on one session with Ms. Houchins. Other students participated in a "Sum It Up" activity. The battle was on to see which group could correctly get the sum of 4 problems for all 5 practice sheets! Students not only learned how to solve the problems, but they were also able to provide feedback to their classmates on how to correctly solve the problems.

Mrs. Hackett's science classes were polled today on which way they learn best. They completed a Sternberg survey, and then decided if they are practical, creative, or analytical learners. Then, the fun began. Each learning style had a different activity to work on all based off the same underlying theme-atoms and the scientists that contributed to them. Some students created charts and graphs, other students created a skit and the last group of students are interviewing scientists to find out their conflicting viewpoints We are so looking forward to their final product next week! |
